I’ve been doing so much and so little since we spoke last.
Summer passed and along with it my quiet nights of reading comics and talking for hours into the night with my cousin. I moved back to an uncertain Fresno to help a friend start his hip new cafe. I’d missed making coffee for people, so Larry and I took another trip.
Once i was in town, the opening of the cafe was delayed several times. I felt my mind growing irritable with the waiting so I enrolled in full time classes at Fresno City College. It turns out I’m deeply interested in Biology 1, which is surprising.
After a few shows the band (Argyle Pimps) seemed to be completely back together. Jamie and I enjoyed a bright, if small, burst in creativity, which led me to rekindle my dreams of transcribing our songs from their sampled and looped forms into charted music, and to play along with a live jazz band. Sam Rocha (bass and sousaphone) and Joe Miller (drums) were a big part of putting the musicians together to do it and we’ve put 2 shows under our belts as a live jazz hop version of ourselves. I’m relieved that people seem to like it because I had grown so bored with the old format.
Friends have been the key. Love has been the answer to every need. Nick loaned me his bicycle so I could traverse Fresno, so I’ve arrived on time for class and work and band practice. Dusty and Faith stretched my ears and replaced my gauges for free, Billy and Corie gave me a family member price for renting my room, Mike came and got me and my things from San Diego and put me up for three months, rent-free, when the grand opening (and paycheck) was delayed, Rachel, Joy and Shannon worked together to buy me a stand up piano so I could grow musically, Sam Rocha, Nate Ketner, Joe Miller, Gary Anderson, Thomas Lake and Ian Garoian all rehearsed, transcribed and played for free just to help me get our first live band show off the ground.
A slow latte pouring of love.
Speaking of which, the cafe has opened, I’m regaining my Barista chops, and I’ve even moved to an apartment in the same complex as the cafe.
It seems like I have so much.
Thank you so much.

You have been given so much love because you gave it first. So many people believe in you because you are extraordinary. SO happy for you! Give my best to Larry.
You are loved!
